Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is one of the bedrocks of Lumina Technology’s ethos. Everyone in the company is encouraged to take ethical responsibilities seriously and to actively participate in local community projects in order to promote and foster the welfare of all.
This autumn, we are planning to get involved in a number of CSR events, most of which are in aid of local charities. More importantly, we are holding our own breakfast seminar on cyber security – an issue which is vital to every business whatever its size.
Cyber Security breakfast seminar
Following our hugely successful Cyber Security seminar in August, we are running another one on 10 November 2016 between 7:30am and 9:30am at the Aubrey Park Hotel in Hemel Hempstead. Our MD Richard McBarnet will discuss why it’s so important for companies – however large or small – to protect themselves from cyber threats and how they can make it happen. A full breakfast will be provided and attendance is free, but we will be raising money for one of our favourite local charities, the Hospice of St Francis. Contact us for more details or email info@luminatech.co.uk. The suggested donation of £25 should be made directly to the charity by clicking here.
Fund raising events we are getting involved in
The Hospice of St Francis has organised another mud run in the grounds of Ashridge House. Whether Team Lumina will be getting down and dirty or providing marshals for the event, we’ve yet to decide. All we want is for the Hospice to raise lots of money!
A black tie networking event which will be a useful way of keeping in touch with colleagues in different industries.
DENS Action Against Homelessness is a Hemel Hempstead-based charity which provides housing and support for vulnerable single homeless people and others in crisis. Lumina Technologies has supported the charity in the past, but this year we are hoping to actively take part in fundraising activities. The Sleepout seems the obvious way to raise money and gain awareness of the plight of the homeless – it won’t be comfortable, but then again, it isn’t supposed to be.
Our chance to network with other Dacorum businesses who value Corporate Social Responsibility and want to make a difference.
In addition to corporate events, our MD Richard McBarnet supported another of our current charities, SANDS, in Baby Loss Awareness Week, 9-15 October, and met with Richard Harrington MP at Watford General Hospital to discuss the great work the midwives do on the maternity unit.
