Gartner released its 2021 list of Tech trends to watch out for back in October this year – here are the trends we picked from the list and some of our own top picks to give you the top 5 that we think will be key in 2021.
Distributed cloud is where cloud services are distributed to different physical locations, but the operation, governance and evolution remain the responsibility of the public cloud provider.
“Every new digital division will embrace innovation through ecosystems, and we expect a further 50% of enterprises to make cloud-centric transformation a priority, moving business-critical operational apps and all experience apps into the cloud,” Forrester predicts.
Enabling organisations to have these services physically closer helps, reduces data costs and helps accommodate laws that dictate data must remain in a specific geographical area. However, it also means that businesses still benefit from public cloud and aren’t managing their own private cloud, which can be costly and complex.
A key part of this strategy will be aligning internal and external resources, where organisations should do with a specific strategy in mind, like a customer or business outcome.
Benefits of Distributed Cloud include:-
Anywhere Operations is an IT operating model designed to support customers everywhere, enable employees everywhere, and manage the deployment of business services across distributed infrastructures. It is more than simply working from home or interacting with customers virtually – it also delivers unique value-add experiences across five core areas:

What is Zero Trust? Zero Trust is a security concept that requires all users, even those inside the organisation’s enterprise network, to be authenticated, authorised, and continuously validating security configuration and posture, before being granted or keeping access to your business applications and data.
Instead of assuming everything behind the corporate firewall is safe, the Zero Trust model assumes breach and verifies each request as though it originates from an open network. Regardless of where the request originates or what resource it accesses, Zero Trust teaches us to “never trust, always verify.” Rich intelligence and analytics are used to detect and respond to anomalies in real time.
Zero Trust means organisations deploy a new security model that more effectively adapts to the complexity of the modern environment, embraces the mobile workforce, and protects people, devices, apps, and data wherever they are located.
Digital transformation is the process of using digital technologies to create new — or modify existing — business processes, culture, performance and customer experiences in order to meet changing business and market requirements. This reimagining of business in the digital age is digital transformation.
Digital transformation begins and ends with how you think about and engage with customers. As we move from paper to spreadsheets to smart applications for managing our business, we have the chance to reimagine how we do business — how we engage our customers — with digital technology on our side.
As they embark on digital transformation, many companies are taking a step back to ask whether they are really doing the right things.
For SMB’s or businesses just getting started, there’s no need to set up your business processes and transform them later. You can future-proof your organisation from the word go. Thinking, planning, and building digitally sets you up to be agile, flexible, and ready to grow.
Key benefits you can expect with digital transformation:
IT automation is the process of creating software and systems to replace repeatable processes and reduce manual intervention. It accelerates the delivery of IT infrastructure and applications by automating manual processes that previously required a human touch. With IT automation, software is used to set up and repeat instructions, processes, or policies that save time and free up IT staff for more strategic work. With the rise of virtual networks and cloud services that require rapid, complex provisioning, automation is an indispensable strategy for helping IT teams deliver services with improved speed, consistency, and security.
IT automation overcomes the static, manual nature of IT operations jobs that prevent successful digital transformation. The technologies manage tasks based on business policies and resources. The goal is to establish an effective mechanism of automation within the dynamic settings of the IT environment, workforce resources, and the business landscape.
IT automation is a powerful tool that can scale a business, result in faster operations and provide significant cost savings. A fully automated environment can reduce the time to delivery for production-ready resources from weeks to less than a day.
For example It used to be enough to automate the record keeping for insurance companies. Now, business automation works to develop new opportunities to sell insurance itself. This happens by business and IT leaders working together to align modern approaches to application development with business processes.
Your business needs your IT to run seamlessly to ensure that your staff can work at the highest possible productivity level. Disruptions in the workplace can cause higher levels of stress as well as reduced work output, which in time may affect the quality of work to your clients. Lumina Technologies can help you with all of your IT needs including cloud services, IT security, IT managed services and IT outsourcing. We offer IT support for all our clients and ensure that an effective IT strategy is in place.
